Oil boilers and service plans in Worcester

Oil heat, looked after. A heat pump, when you choose it.

We service, repair and replace oil-fired boilers and furnaces in Worcester and the towns around it. When a heat pump makes sense for your house, we say so. When it doesn't, we say that too.

  • We service oil; we don't sell it
  • Plan terms in writing before you sign
  • Heat pumps installed when the switch makes sense

What we look after

The boiler, the tank and the pipes between

Most of our work is oil-fired hot-water boilers and warm-air furnaces in houses that are older than the equipment in them.

  • Cleaning and safety checks

A yearly cleaning, a combustion test and a written report on a boiler or furnace.

    How a visit goes
  • Burner and boiler repair

Primary controls, nozzles, circulators, zone valves, leaks. We diagnose first and quote before we repair.

Sized from a heat-loss calculation, with the chimney liner and controls on their own lines in the quote.

    Replacement
  • Oil tanks

Inspection, gauge and vent-alarm checks, and replacement of an aging tank, indoors or out.

A plan covers one boiler or furnace and is billed once a year. "First in line" means plan calls are scheduled ahead of non-plan calls in the heating season. The diagnostic fee is waived when you approve the repair we quote; if you decline it, the fee stands. The labor discount applies to repairs we quote and you approve; it does not apply to parts, oil, or a new system, which are billed separately and are not covered by the plan. The plan renews each October. To cancel, tell us by phone or email before the renewal date and nothing is charged. If you cancel after the cleaning has been done, that plan year is not refunded.

Who we answer to

We service the boiler. Your oil dealer stays your oil dealer.

We don't sell fuel. Nobody here earns more when you burn more oil, or when you burn less. We look after the equipment, tell you what we find, and leave the delivery contract with whoever you already buy from.

What that means for you

  • Your delivery contract stays as it is

  • We check the tank gauge and tell you what's left, not sell you a fill

  • A service plan never ties you to a dealer

At every cleaning

What happens at a service visit

Plan or no plan, a cleaning follows the same five steps.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Arrive and look

We walk to the boiler with you, ask what you've noticed, and check the tank gauge and the room for fuel smell.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Test it running

We read combustion and flue temperature before we touch anything, so the report shows how it ran.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Clean and replace

Nozzle and filter replaced, the heat exchanger and flue passages brushed and vacuumed.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Check the safeties

Controls, low-water cutoff, circulators, zone valves, the expansion tank, and your carbon monoxide alarms.

  5. 05

    Step 5: Write it up

A report the same day: what we did, what we read, and anything that will need attention. No work starts without your yes.

Sample reviews

What customers notice

“The technician showed me the old nozzle and the soot on it, and explained what the combustion numbers meant. I left with a one-page report. It's the first time I've understood my own boiler.”

Cathy H.Yearly cleaning, Worcester

“We had three quotes for a new boiler. This was the only one that listed the chimney liner on its own line, so there were no surprises on install day.”

Barney R.Boiler replacement, Auburn

“I called on a January evening. They asked about the carbon monoxide alarm before anything else, and a technician came in the morning.”

Lucila E.No-heat call, Webster

“They told us to keep the boiler and add two mini-splits first. We'd braced for a hard sell to rip everything out.”

Questions before you call

How often should an oil boiler be cleaned?

Once a year, before the heating season, is the usual advice for oil-fired equipment. A boiler that has given trouble may deserve a look in midwinter, and the report from your cleaning will say.

Is a service plan insurance?

No. A plan is a yearly visit and a place in line when you call. Repairs, parts and oil are billed separately. The terms are on the plans page.

Do you deliver oil?

No. We service equipment and tank hardware. Your oil dealer stays your oil dealer.

Should I switch to a heat pump?

Sometimes. The page on when to switch lays out the signs, the options and what Mass Save asks for. We'll work it out from your last two winters of oil bills.

What if the boiler quits on a weekend?

Call the shop number. From October to April it forwards to the on-call technician, and we quote the after-hours rate before we dispatch.

What do you do about a carbon monoxide alarm?

If it's sounding, leave the house and call 911 first, then call us. We never ask you to stay inside to wait for a technician.

Do you work on steam boilers?

Our work is mostly hot-water boilers and warm-air furnaces. For a steam system, call and describe what you have, and we'll say whether it's one for us.

What does a cleaning cost without a plan?

We quote it by phone before we book it. The visit is the same ten items, and the report is the same.
