Oil service plans

Oil service plans

Three plans, each built on the yearly cleaning. A plan is a service schedule, not insurance.

    Most plan customers choose this

The cleaning, plus a place at the front of the line when the cold arrives.

  • Priority and tank

Everything in Priority, and the tank looked at every fall.

    • Yearly cleaning and safety checkAdded to your agreement
    • Booked before the heating seasonYes
    • No-heat callsFirst in line
    • Diagnostic fee on a repairWaived

    • Second boiler or furnaceAdded to your agreement

Renews each October. Cancel by phone or email before then.

A plan covers one boiler or furnace and is billed once a year. "First in line" means plan calls are scheduled ahead of non-plan calls in the heating season. The diagnostic fee is waived when you approve the repair we quote; if you decline it, the fee stands. The labor discount applies to repairs we quote and you approve; it does not apply to parts, oil, or a new system, which are billed separately and are not covered by the plan. The plan renews each October. To cancel, tell us by phone or email before the renewal date and nothing is charged. If you cancel after the cleaning has been done, that plan year is not refunded.

Every cleaning

What we check on every visit

Ten items, the same on every plan and on a single visit. The report you keep lists each one.

  • Nozzle and filter

    Both replaced at every cleaning.

  • Combustion

Flue temperature and carbon monoxide at the stack, read with the burner running.

  • Heat exchanger

    Flue passages brushed and vacuumed.

  • Chimney connector

Checked for rust, gaps and draft.

  • Oil line and tank hardware

Fittings, fill and vent pipes checked for leaks and blockage.

  • Safety controls

Primary control, limit and low-water cutoff tested.

  • Circulators and zone valves

Run and listened to, zone by zone.

  • Pressure and expansion tank

Water pressure and the expansion tank checked.

  • Your alarms

Carbon monoxide and smoke alarms near the boiler tested.

  • The report

A written report left with you the same day.

The plan year

When we come, and what helps

A boiler's year in the Northeast has one busy stretch. This is how plan customers move through it.

  • Cleaning and safety check

We book plan customers first, from August. Clear three feet around the boiler and tell us about any noise or smell you've noticed.

    Aug to Oct

  • Tank check

On the Priority and tank plan we look at the tank and its lines. Check your gauge too: your oil dealer, not us, fills it.

    Oct to Nov

  • Cold-weather calls

Plan customers' no-heat calls go ahead of the rest. Keep the outdoor vent and the fill pipe clear of snow and ice.

    Dec to Mar

  • Planning the next system

Spring is the quiet time to plan a replacement or a heat pump, with install dates that don't depend on a cold snap.

    Apr to Jun

Plan terms in plain words

What a plan is

A plan puts your yearly cleaning on our calendar and gives your calls a place in line. It is not insurance. If a part fails, we repair it at our regular parts price.

What it costs and when

Each plan is one price per year for one boiler or furnace, charged once, at the cleaning visit. The price for the next year is sent to you in September, before the renewal date.

How to cancel

Call or email before the renewal date in October and the plan ends with no fee. After the cleaning has been done, that year's price isn't refunded.

What the diagnostic fee waiver means

On a repair visit we charge a diagnostic fee. For plan customers, that fee comes off the bill when you approve the repair we quote. If you decline the repair, the fee stands.

Questions about the plans

Can I buy a single cleaning without a plan?

Yes. Call and we'll quote the visit before we book it. The cleaning is the same ten items, and the report is the same.

Does a plan pay for repairs?

No. A plan is a service schedule. Repairs, parts and oil are billed separately, and the plan takes a discount off labor on Priority and Priority and tank.

What if I have two boilers?

Each one gets its own cleaning. The second is added to the plan at the price in the table.

Who fills my tank?

Your oil dealer does. We don't sell or deliver fuel, and a plan doesn't change who you buy from.

Can I move to a different plan later?

At renewal, yes. In the middle of a plan year, call and we'll see what's fair for the visits you've already had.

Put the cleaning on the calendar.

Tell us which plan you want and we'll call to book the cleaning.
